Kaleidoscope Daises
These are 2 pieces I did last year. The one that is not finished I did first. It wasn't supposed to be squared up. I got too excited at the end. I had left extra on the borders so I could wrap it around in the facing. Well, I had not done but 3 facings before so I am not in that habit. I am all about sguaring it up and slapping that binding on. I just put it to the side and did not finish it because I was so mad. I did the same thing to the second one, squared it up! It got finished even though I wanted to throw both of them in the trash. I really want to go ahead and finish the first one. Any suggestions on the finishing edge? How can I finish it and make the flowers still look good at the edges?

Wow, those are beautiful! I have no ideas for you though. Now I must go dig out my Bon Jovi CD's.
Music tip: Check out the new Robert Plant/Alison Krauss cd. Very nice. Beautiful work, Steph. My fav flower.
I love them both (personal favorite is the top one in the yellows; lots of room to embellish there). Like you I love to square up put on nice tight bindings; that said I have recently begun using silk ribbon as the binding. You could use similar colors; you sew the one edge down on the top just like a regular binding then simply wrap the ribbon to the back & lightly hand stitch it down. The edges are all ready finished on the ribbon which makes it easer plus you get a nice 'zero horizon' on your binding edge so it's not like a heavy 'picture frame' edge that bindings can resemble. Check out my journal quilt pix on my blog; the edge was done with a beige silk ribbon that was on a spool I bought at Michaels.
